tunes

You had to figure a post about tunes was coming fairly quickly.  I haven't found too much lately that's really floored me or anything, but there is some reasons to be pretty stoked for 2012:

HOT WATER MUSIC

Been around since the early 1990's, seven full lengths and more splits and EP than almost any band in existence they are back with their eighth album and if the lead track is any indication, it going to rock some serious balls.  Chuck Ragan has been busy the last few years on his acoustic folk solo career touring with like-minded punks such as Tim Barry of Avail, Brian Fallon of Gaslight Anthem and Ben Nichol of Lucero (my favorite of all the folk-punk acoustic acts that have came up the last few years). Anyways, the track is called "DRAG MY BODY"

REFUSED

One of the best bands ever (kind of biased) are back.  Not in the sense that there will be any more new music, but there will be a bunch of shows; Coachella on April 20, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on April 23, then select dates all over North America including two shows in Toronto at the Sound Academy on July 22, 23.  Guaranteed sell out.. Gonna be heavy! Rest of the dates here posted at the bottom of this page.

EVERY TIME I DIE

More P&Vinegar Southern influenced hard rock/metal from the craziest cats out of Buffalo, NY since.. I got nothing. 'Ex Lives' is a great batch of songs and much more consistent than 'New Junk Aesthetic.' I don't want to compare it to other albums they've done, if you like them you know what to expect and you'll get it with a few twists and turns.  Video for UNDERWATER BIMBOS FROM OUTER SPACE off of 'EX LIVES'. Yes, they still do the humorous song title thing.

BOUNCING SOULS

First band I ever saw live.  Didn't know who they were when they opened for Face To Face in 1996ish and bought both their albums on the spot.  Love this band and looking forward to the new album, sounds a little more aggressive than the Souls' I'm used to, but man, does it sound crisp.  Recorded at the Blasting Room with Descendents/Black Flag/Lemonheads drummer Bill Stevenson and it, like everything he records, sounds amazing.

Other albums in 2012 to be stoked for: STICK TO YOUR GUNS 'Diamonds', THE MARS VOLTA 'Noctourniquet', CATTLE DECAPITATION 'Monolith Of Inhumanity', GREEN DAY 'Nuclear Family', CEREMONY 'Zoo', CONVERGE 'All We Love We Leave Behind', and scheduled albums by BAD RELIGION, DEFTONES, TOOL, A LIFE ONCE LOST, BLACK SABBATH, RUSH, SLAYER, NOFX, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE.  That is all.
